Samsung is allegedly thinking about a new naming scheme for its future phones. The company plans to retain the Galaxy branding but may ditch the numbering system.
The just-announced Samsung Galaxy S9 might be the company’s very last entry in the “Galaxy S” series, according to a brand new article hinting that Samsung is visiting brand new names for its later flagships.
Which just would mean that forthcoming Galaxy S10 might be called something else altogether. In A time along with a Q media at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung mobile business head DJ Koh was asked whether Samsung will remember the S line going forward.
“Although Samsung is going to stick to Galaxy, we’ve been imagining whether we have to keep the S moniker or maybe the numbering system,” said Koh.
Samsung Its Changing The Name Of Its Phones
Such a move seems logical, as it appears to be somewhat unrealistic – and flat – were Samsung to hold on making use of the S line and just go through numerical order every year. Keeping the Galaxy brand seems a smart move, however. Individuals are already familiar with that branding, and also it appears to be ridiculous for the organization to squander away that potential.
‘We Don’t Want To Be First Just For The Sake Of It’
Perhaps Samsung can mimic Apple’s route and name its higher tier smartphone something along the lines of “Galaxy X.” Quite feasible, indeed, but there is the little issue of that title being rumoured as Samsungs much anticipated flip-style smartphone, pegged to become the next true innovation in smartphone design. Koh was asked about that cell phone during exactly the same Q along with a time, but his reply hinted that something significant is approaching, a thing not always pushed by the drive to be “first.”
“Before, Samsung would once place much more focus on becoming’ the world’s original,'” rather than creating significant products. That is not the situation in present-day Samsung ethos since its renewed “strategy is rolling out brand new items really worth paying for.”
Could it be that the following Galaxy S line phone is going to be the foldable flagship already in development? It is a possibility not so quickly dismissed because the company has been working hard on that for some time today. The other probably model will be the Galaxy Note 9 sometime later this season, based on Samsung’s typical release pattern. And then, it is anyone’s guess what the organization has in store.
Do you believe it is advisable for Samsung to ditch the “S” line of Galaxy phones? Do you’ve some names in mind? Of course, in case you’ve something to talk about, be at liberty to sound them off in the comments section below!
