Samsung Reportedly Preparing More Than 12 Million Galaxy S8 Units For Launch
Samsung is confident that it will sell a lot of Galaxy S8 units when the flagship is finally shipped on the yet-to-be-announced release date. New rumors suggest that the company is prepping more than 12 million handsets for launch, which is a bold move considering how the Note 7 fiasco tainted the company’s image for a long period.
Samsung Is Betting Big On The Galaxy S8
The rumor, which comes from Vietnam-based site Naver, comes less than a month before the Note 7 sequel’s official unveiling this March 29. Samsung has a production facility in that country, and the report states that it has already begun manufacturing Galaxy S8 handsets.
The report also states that the company is pushing to create 4.7 million units of the Galaxy S8 in March and 7.8 million in April. The report, however, doesn’t specify how those figures will be split between the rumored size configurations of the phone, which are 5.8- and 6.2-inch models.
Galaxy S8 Unveiling
Samsung hasn’t offered up a word of confirmation regarding the rumors, and with the official launch so close by, it likely won’t bother confirming anything at all. That vague teaser, which makes it appear that its forthcoming handset will undermine the traditional form factor of smartphones at present, will have to do for now.
Despite nary an official word from Samsung, it seems logical for the company to make as many units of the Galaxy S8 as possible before these finally land on shelves. However, adding the weight of its Note 7-related troubles, the notion that Samsung could blow back in full swing sounds a tad hopeful, if not a little ambitious. Anyhow, Samsung has labored over better battery measures in light of the Note 7 aftermath, but whether this would be enough to quash ambivalence over the safety of its products is a thing that remains to be seen.
While there’s still no official release date, the Galaxy S8 is expected to go on sale globally by mid-April, instead of opening up sales initially in one country then expanding to other countries later on. If true, the move mirrors that of Apple, which has opted for global release dates for its iPhone line in recent years.
Other Galaxy S8 Rumors
Speculation about the Galaxy S8 is rampant. Rumors suggest a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood for both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, although Samsung is also being tipped to release models packed with its own rumored Exynos 9810 processor.
The phone will allegedly have 64 GB of internal base storage and 4 GB of RAM. Rumors also say that the Galaxy S8 will support Samsung Pay, like the Galaxy S7. A leaked specs sheet also puts wireless charging on the cards, a 12-megapixel dual camera setup, an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter, and water resistance.
The phone will reportedly ship with Android Nougat out of the box, which is definitely plausible, considering other smartphones already do. In terms of battery capacity, rumors suggest that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be powered with 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh batteries, respectively.
