Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus Poised For April 28 Release, Not April 21
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones on March 29 and the device is expected to make its way to the market in April.
While reports have suggested that the pre-orders for the devices will kick off on April 10 and the smartphones will go on sale a few days later, the latest buzz is that the time window for the Galaxy S8’s release may have been postponed.
The Samsung smartphones were previously rumored to launch on April 21 but now reports claim that it has been delayed to April 28.
Fans would perhaps be wondering why a delay in the release date has taken place. The company faced severe issues after the release of the Galaxy Note 7 and this postponement indicates that Samsung is taking things slow before the release of its flagship device.
According to a report from VentureBeat, Samsung has a plan of releasing this smartphone duo, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, a week later than expected. The source of the news is none other than noted leakster Evan Blass.
“Although it can hardly be considered a delay, since the devices have not even been announced yet, the Samsung Galaxy S8 duo’s release timetable has slipped by a week relative to the company’s original plans. The S8 and S8+ are now scheduled for a global release on April 28 – and not April 21,” notes the tipster.
Blass cites a person who has been “briefed on the company’s revised target” as his source. However, there has been no official word from Samsung which would clearly indicate why the company has taken such a decision.
Shortage in production units should not be a worry as the company is reportedly on track with production of 4.7 million Galaxy S8 smartphones in March.
Samsung Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus: Rumored Specs
The Galaxy S8 will come with a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display along with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. The smartphone will also likely house 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.
The sibling Galaxy S8+ is expected to sport a 6.2-inch Quad HD+ display. The RAM and processor remains the same as the Samsung Galaxy S8. The Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to house the bigger battery of the two and both smartphones will come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The other features on the two devices include the fingerprint sensor and an Iris scanner, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The smartphones will also include Samsung Bixby, the company’s new AI assistant.
Only time will tell whether the delay will help Samsung in preventing a fiasco similar to that caused by the Galaxy Note 7. For now, it seems that the South Korean company is moving cautiously towards the launch of its flagship.
Samsung is expected to take the wraps off the handsets at the company’s Unpacked Event, which is slated to be held on March 29 in New York.
