The Galaxy S20 is expensive, but it’s stacked with features that work effortlessly. Dip down to other high-end Android phones and you’ll start having to deal with compromises, like how the OnePlus 7T isn’t protected against water damage and doesn’t support wireless charging, or how the Pixel 4 has subpar battery life. If you don’t care for those (missing) features, then absolutely save your money and buy those phones. But if you do care about those things, then you probably already have your wallet out.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is the most manageable of the S20 lineup in terms of size and price, but it may get left behind with future 5G upgrades.

The S20 and S20+ together represent a solid effort from Samsung that addresses most of the gripes I’ve had with previous-generation flagship products, and so both come highly recommended from me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be off to look for some flashy cases.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+ are exceptional all-rounders, the problem is that, in a sense, they’re too similar. Beyond a larger display, there’s little reason to opt for the plus model over its more compact sibling, especially when doing so adds £100 to £200 onto the price tag.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is the phone to buy if you can’t afford the expensive S20 Ultra.

The Galaxy S20 Plus is the best Android phone I’ve used over the last year. It offers the complete package. A robust camera setup, an impressive screen, and it has the performance to match. The addition of 5G connectivity is something that some — maybe most? — of us won’t be able to take full advantage of quite yet, but with a phone that costs $1,200, odds are you’re not planning on upgrading anytime soon.

Photography is excellent, battery life will take you from morning to night, and it’s packed with all the essential features found in Samsung’s S20 trio. I also appreciate its full-throttle 5G support. Yes, justifying the S20 Plus’ pricing is a challenge for me, especially because I personally prefer the S20’s smaller frame. But for me, all the Galaxy S20 phones cost more than they need to.

The Galaxy S20+ might not have as advanced a camera system as the S20 Ultra, but it has pretty much everything else. Plus, it’s smaller and lighter, making it easier to use with one hand and for prolonged periods of time. With a long-lasting battery, super smooth display and a premium build, the S20+ is one of the best Android phones around. Just wait till Samsung releases its software update to fix a camera autofocus issue before you go out and buy it.

The Galaxy S20+ is an upgrade to the Galaxy S10+ in every possible way. It is not perfect but still comes across as a complete flagship smartphone for power users. It offers the best-in-class display on a phone and a camera that delivers excellent results. Despite a bigger battery and a large screen, the phone’s design is ergonomic.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is a nearly-perfect smartphone that connects to more 5G networks and has better cameras than ever, though you’ll be paying for the privilege, as this is the priciest Plus smartphone yet. If you don’t mind ho-hum design, the phone handles anything you throw at it, and should last you years – especially assuming 5G networks stay compatible with the S20 Plus as they build out.

But as I have been saying, don’t take solid improvements for granted. It’s the best complete package of an Android phone available right now and a high bar for the rest of 2020 Android phones to try to clear. S11, S20 — Samsung can call it whatever it wants.

The successor to last year’s top-of-the-line phone is the middle child this time around, but loses none of its appeal. In fact, with a more manageable size and weight, plus a superb primary camera that’s sure to improve with updates, the Galaxy S20+ could be the best phone of 2020.

The Galaxy S20+ might seem very expensive, but Samsung has actually priced it the same as the Galaxy S10+, when it launched a year ago. From that perspective, the Galaxy S20+ offers improved design and performance across the board, which makes it a worthy upgrade. Some of its stand-out features include the new zoom system for the rear cameras, the excellent display, solid battery life, and a sleeker design.
